I love your quail photo! Nothing is cuter than a bunch of California quail crossing a road. Their little topknots are so striking. Your photo shows off how beautiful they really are.
What an exquisite capture of the male California Quail Mary! They are a gorgeous bird aren't they? I love the way the male is always jumping up on things (like the fence post) to survey the surroundings to keep the female and the little ones safe. They are fun to watch.
Larry, I haven't seen a California quail around here in quite some time. So I was thrilled to encounter a male and female on my walk in Rancho San Antonio OSP a few weeks ago. Something tells me there was a nest nearby, but I didn't see it.

he has a crown! very crisp and lots of details.
