Walking home from work last night I noticed the moon was close to full and was so attractive I wanted to get a photo of it. So I quickly grabbed my camera as soon as I walked in the door, put a Canon 70-300mm lens on and out the door I went. While photographing, I saw a plane headed south and I wanted to get a picture of it as it crossed in front of the moon. It looks like I got what I tried for.

Nice shot!
That really is cool! Right place, right time!
You really did get the picture you wanted. Surreal. Amazing.
Wow! What are the chances of getting that shot?
Everything came together for you didn't it? Bravo!
What a really neat capture with the Moon capturing the palne.
Thank you so much, everyone! I was so excited about this photo that I just had to share it with more than my "regular" readers. I'm so glad all of you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed posting it. And since this was my first time to post to Skywatch and all of you have been so complimentary, I am encouraged to post more in the future.
Very cool photo, Mary. Thanks for skywatching it with us.
WOW this is the BEST sky watch phot I have seen this week !!! I absolutely LOVE it!
To top the plane... the moon has a fuzzy glow on the edges from the clouds :)
Perfect shot! I noticed how beautiful the moon was last night as we returned from a night out, and wished I had my camera. Thanks for sharing.
Wren - glad to oblige. I hope I'll get the chance to post another Skywatch in the near future, especially since I'm now vacationing in New Mexico where there are beautiful skies all the time!
Laura - thank you so much, I'm so glad you really enjoyed it. That's the highest compliment you could pay me by saying it was the best you've seen this week.
Red, you should have seen the moon here in ABQ tonight - we were coming back to the motel from Frontier Restaurant and there was a halo all around the moon. Pretty cool.
Jan, thank you. And yes, there have been other times I wished I had my camera, and other times I wasn't satisfied with my photos. But I'll admit, I don't think I could top this photo! ;o)
Mary - a unique capture - great job!!
Wow, VERY cool!
ET, where are you? Very well done!
That's a cool picture Mary! Good job!
What a great capture and so clear! I imagine that would have been an interesting flight for the passengers on the plane too.
Hi Mary!
It's been a while since my last visit. Awesome shot!!
Reminds me a bit of E.T. hahaha
Hi everybody! I've been on vacation in New Mexico and will return to San Jose tomorrow (Monday) evening. I'm hoping to get some photos edited and posted.
Shelley and Mary - thank you!
Kathie - I loved your comment re ET. Thanks.
Ruthie and Ruth - thank you! Ruth I wondered the same thing if the passengers noticed the (almost) full moon as they were flying right in front of it.
Mel - it's so good to hear from you. Yes, it's been a while. Funny how a few folks thought of ET when seeing this shot. I totally had forgotten about that movie!
Again - thank you everyone! I'm so glad you all enjoyed my special Skywatch shot. I hope to do it again soon.
