Thank you, Ruthie J!

This past Saturday, most of my family had the opportunity to meet Ruthie J of Nature Knitter and part of her family. My husband, daughter Red (aka Heidi) and I met Ruthie and her brothers in San Francisco. We met for lunch at Castagnola's. And it was such a bright sunshiny day in "the city" as we South Bay folks call San Francisco. Typical of this city, especially on weekends, it was wall-to-wall people everywhere around Fisherman's Wharf.

Meeting of the "clans." Below, back row, Ruthie's brothers, Phil and Dave. Ruthie's in the middle, and I'm in front (on left), Heidi (Red), and my husband Dave. It was such a special day for us bloggers to meet and get to know each other a little better. I felt I have known Ruthie all my life; but then so many other bloggers have said the same thing after meeting another blogging buddy.

Ruthie came bearing gifts for Red and me. You'll have to check Red's blog (http://mmatm.blogspot.com) to see what Ruthie brought her. Ruthie gave me a pair of fingerless gloves, and below is a picture of one of the gloves. Thank you, Ruthie! Even though our weather is beginning to warm up now, I know they will certainly be handy for next winter, and I look forward to wearing them.

And I'm now an "official" member of the Blogger flock! Again, thank you, Ruthie! I really enjoyed our time together and hope some day I'll be able to come visit you in Minnesota, or meet up with you at a birding festival. We would certainly have a lot of fun together.
Following our lengthy lunch we set out to walk around Fisherman's Wharf before heading home. Red and I had seen some beautiful tulips over by Pier 39 and we wanted very much to get photos of those beauties. The sights we saw as well as the tulips will be in my next post.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting any of my blogging friends yet, but I definitely feel like I know some of them. I look forward to meeting some of my fellow bloggers, and maybe even taking a walk along a trail! It has been a little while since I've dropped by your site, and you've remodeled since then. It looks great!

Hi Lynne - yes, it is great! And I hope one of these days I get to meet you, too.

Amber, it's good to hear from you again. I hope one of these days you get to meet a blogging friend or two or three, etc! Hopefully we will meet, too. Thanks for the compliments on my site. Credit goes to my daughter Red.

Hi Ruth H - I hope to meet you one day, too! I have visited the eastern part of Canada (many years ago), and visited part of British Columbia (Victoria and Vancouver). I really would like to visit the "middle" of Canada, too. So we can hope it might happen one day that we would meet! Now, if you should ever have the opportunity to visit the northern half of California, I'll be more than happy to connect with you!

How great to be able to meet some blogging friends! It is like you have known them a long time. Bird Festivals would be a great place to do that, too.

That color of the half-mitts look really good on your skin. Fun day I'll remember for a long long time.

Hi Mary - Saturday was such a fun time for all of us. We had a great day to drive to the Bay Area, MUCH nicer weather than we'd ever expect at this time of year in Minnesota, and a delicious meal at Castagnola's, shared with really good company. It was fun to meet you, Dave & Heidi & share a little bit of Ruthie's blogging life with her (and you!). Thanks again for making the trip "to town" to meet us.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for a fun afternoon. I'm sure glad we were all able to get the chance to meet in person.
(I wish I had made your half-mitts about 3 rows longer!)

Hi Linda - it's great no matter how we bloggers meet each other. I will admit that it can be exciting during a bird festival, but sometimes the events/activities can take away the time we could spend getting to know each other better.

Thanks, Red. I think the color looks really good for wearing them with my Sharks jacket.

Hi David - Wouldn't it be nice to credit you and Ruthie for the nice weather we had? ;o) The weather was definitely a bonus, even for us Californians who had dealt with a couple weeks of rainy and gray, cloudy days. We couldn't have asked for a better day, a better time, a better place, or even better friends enjoying each other's company. I'm glad we all had such a fun time; you are all terrific! And I sure hope one of these days I'll get the chance to meet you in your neck of the "woods." ;o)

Hi Ruthie - It was definitely a great day for us Carlsons, and your family sure made the day quite enjoyable. You are quite the perfectionist when it comes to your knitting; I know the feeling, but the half mitts are just fine.

How nice to meet a virtual friend! I was wary of blogging at first not knowing what types of people were "out there", but most are first class, compassionate, interesting and people I would like to meet.

Hi Ruth - it certainly was fun, and at first I felt the same way you did about "online" folks. But I'm finding out through those who read my blog are faithful readers with so many similar interests, and folks I would want to meet in person.

Shelley, how wonderful you also got the chance to meet another blogger. How true! It does seem like we've known our blogging friends forever.
