June blooming lilies

The month of June continued giving us a variety of colors and plants in our yard. Here are my favorite photos of our lilies, all located in the front yard. Below, you can see among the daylilies that I also have a few calla lilies. I love calla lilies although the flowers are too short-lived. But they do stand out among the other more colorful daylilies.

Here is a view of the daylilies as they encircle our crape myrtle tree. The smaller looking flowers in the foreground happen to be our white trailing lantana.

And my Easter lilies surround the birdbath.

Those are breath-taking lilies. The calla lilies are especially beautiful up against that green foliage. Do your day lilies last most of the summer?

They may have bloomed in June but are just as pretty now. Some of the day lilies are quite unique.

I still have day lilies blooming in my garden in our weird wet and cool summer. I should plant more this fall. Lovely pictures.

Hi Linda. Thanks. Yes, the daylilies last most of the summer, but the flowers aren't as large as the beginning of the summer. I think the flowers would continue to be large if I would take the time to thin them out a bit.

Thanks Ruth H -- I guess that's what makes it fun to take photos and share them. It doesn't matter when you post them; everyone can still enjoy them even after they're gone.

Ruth - thanks. Isn't it great that daylilies are so easy to care for? They don't seem to mind warm or cooler temps; and they don't seem to mind wet or drier conditions. And they will still put out those pretty flowers.

You know- I've never seen Easter lilies growing in a garden- only in those foil wrapped pots at Easter time. Your gardens are so lush. It does make me wish a little that our growing season was a bit longer.

Lynne... the Easter lilies are from the foil wrapped pots :) No one around here even believed we could grow them. But why not? We're in Zone 9... what can't grow here?

Every year we buy a couple for the church and plant them... and then grab some leftovers to boot ;) I'm working on convincing other members they can plant them too. It seems such a waste to buy them and toss them.

Psst Mom... save some flower pics for winter, lol!

Lovely lily photos. I have Easter Lilies that my mother bought me in 1997 when I had surgery. I have moved them several times, and they were very pretty this year. Like that orange daylily too.

Lovely lilies Mary! It would be very neat to have calla lilies and Easter lilies blooming right in the yard.
