Walking home

Most of the time I try to take Fridays off from working at the hospital. But about half of the time I end up going in for half a day. I'm limited to 32 hours a week, actually 64 hours per pay period, and many days I work just 7 or 7-1/2 hours, which gives me about 3-4 hours I can put in on some Fridays. So a couple of weeks ago, I put in my 3-4 hours. It's nice when you can leave in the middle of the day. So on my way home I decided to take a few pictures around the hospital. These (I think) are margheurite daisies, just outside of the Medical Staff offices.
Also in the same area, just around the corner, just as one would walk toward the employee parking lot, you come across several shrubs, mostly the mock orange shrubs. They smell so good.
Here is a close-up of the blossoms. Oh, I wish you could smell them. They have that sweet spicy smell to them.
Then in another spot nearby are some rhododendrons blooming now. They are so beautiful.
And here is a close-up of those beautiful flowers.
And here is another shot of the mixture of the daisies and the rhododendrons.
And as I was walking home I saw these beautiful flowers. I think these are called ice plant - that's not the scientific name, of course, but something we Californians have known as ice plant. These flowers are in my neighbor's front yard. She also works at the hospital as a nurse, and lives at the end of my street.
What do you get to see on your way to work, or on the way home?

What beautiful flowers! Makes the walk home from work even more fun.

I'm finally starting to see a little light in the eastern sky on our morning commute--can't wait till it's light in the morning again (we leave the house about 5:15 am).

I mostly see highway traffic to and from work, but that's OK. The grounds at our hospital (17 acres) are beautiful and inspiring. Your flower pictures are lovely.

Hi Ruthie - thanks. Yes, I really enjoy the walks this time of year when so many things are in bloom. I'm sure glad I don't have to leave the house as early as you do. But then, you do get to go home earlier, don't you?

Hi Ruth - I would love to see some photos of your beautiful flora and fauna on the hospital campus. I would imagine you'll have some beautiful flowers very soon.

What a wonderful sight to encounter on your walk.
I drive to work, then walk from parking lot to building--our campus does a nice job of landscaping, but things aren't into full flower swing yet. A couple of weeks, and I will have pretty flowers on my walk too.

Hey Red! You get Mondays off! And you could try biking to work! LOL

Thanks, Mel. There are days when I'm walking to work and I can see and hear some of the birds here in the neighborhood. But sometimes the traffice on the street is too noisy to hear the birds. Oh well, can't have it all!

Hi Donna -- I sure hope you get a chance to post some of your landscaping/floral photos in the near future. I look forward to seeing them.

How nice to walk past all those blossoms on your way to and from work! I wish I could smell the mock orange also!

Hi Mary - funny you should mention wildflowers on the roadside -- driving on the freeway between home and church we get to see some beautiful wildflowers, mostly CA poppies. But they sure are pretty right now. And once in a while I also get distracted on the same road seeing a sharpie or cooper's on the lamp posts.

Thanks, Prasad - yes, I'm really enjoying spring - I always do.

Thanks, Kathie. The mock orange smells wonderful. I wish I could send smells through cyberspace to you. ;o) And it was only a few weeks ago we smelled the real thing! We have our own orange tree, and a few neighbors do, too. So the fragrance these past few weeks have been heavenly. Mmmm!
